...identify yourself through your art?

What I mean is that sometimes you look at a piece of art and go "OH, THAT MUST BE MADE BY THAT GUY! I TOTALLY KNOW IT WAS BY THAT GUY!" Then you go check said guy's gallery, see you were indeed right, and feel more clever about yourself.

You can argue that it's simply the artist's style that creates that identity, but a lot of the time many artists' styles look so similar that it's hard to tell who made what.

I fall into the same trap - most of you readers probably know me for my Pokemon art, but if my stuff was thrown into the huge gooey pool of Poke-fanart, you'd be hard pressed to see which pieces were by me, unless you've seen them beforehand with my name attached to them.

On the other hand, that's also a reason why I like to tend to my own OCs - as that allows me to escape that boxed feeling of genericness. At the same time, I need to juggle between doing other people's OC requests, and appeasing you watchers for the Poke-art! It's not easy when you're trying to motivate yourself! Ah well!

Actually...

Now I think about it, there are quite a few tell-tale signs of what could make a Pokemon art a ViViVooVoo Pokemon Art Piece. And they're not ones I'm proud of having either!

That English/Weaboonese text thing
You know, how I tend to put the names of the girl with both the English and Japanese variants.

I don't even know Japanese that well. I just think it makes it more complete and aesthetically pleasing.

The Landscape Letterbox
If a piece is in the landscape orientation, there's at least a 80% chance it'll have a letterbox.

Yeah. I like my letterboxes.

That leggy cross-legging thing
Probably my biggest pet peeve. Seems every time I do a leggy piece, they end up being crossed.

I remember by the time I reached Johanna in the above pokemoms piece, I was like "Huh. Maybe I should try something else for the legs. Maybe. Yeah."

And that's it. Honestly, these are still all things which won't necessarily give me a identity, but they might be quirks that could get you wondering! :dummy:

So! What quirks does your art have?
